Istanbul Flights Affected by Strong Winds and Rain

Strong winds and showers that intensified in the morning affected air traffic in Istanbul.

Some planes attempting to land at Istanbul Airport had to go around while some had to circle in the air for a while.

THY’s planes on flights TK626 Lagos-Istanbul, TK775 Muscat-Istanbul, TK186 Chicago-Istanbul, TK6032 Stockholm-Istanbul, and TK185 Manila-Istanbul had to be redirected to Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport for landing due to circling in the air and fuel being critical.

FLIGHT DELAYS

Planes trying to land at Sabiha Gokcen Airport also had to circle in the air for a while, while there were short delays in departure flights.

Due to the strong winds and storms affecting the Marmara Region, some planes unable to land at Sabiha Gokcen Airport and Istanbul Airport are being directed to nearby airports.
